Hours earlier Eric sat at Sasha’s Coffee with his friend, Isac. They were discussing chess strategies and the possibility of Isac moving to the professor’s house. Eric persuaded his friend to keep on reasoning with his girlfriend, that maybe they could work something out. They had been together for three years, and they shouldn’t break up because of their very first argument. There was a child in the way and they should think of raising it together. Not that Eric really believed in a child’s need for both a mother and a father, but because he wouldn’t like to share his home with anyone else. He cared about Isac, but a life with the professor wasn’t for everyone.
Eric’s appeals became more and more half hearted as he stared at the stranger at the other side of the coffee shop. Typical, thought Isac, Eric was a sucker for pretty faces. To Isac, the girl drinking water had bright ginger hair, blue eyes, a sharp nose, and freckles all over her face
